RAS and German scientific organizations launched the project "Together for a better climate"

During the project, the organizations plan to hold several joint events during the year

MOSCOW, November 16. /tass/. German Center for Earth Research (Potsdam), Association named after Helmholtz (Germany) and the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) launched the project "Together for a better climate - Active Scientific Diplomacy with Russia – BRIDGE".

"We are launching a new Russian-German project. This is a special project, it is aimed at joint climate research and sustainable development of our countries. And it involves holding a number of bilateral events throughout the year. A two-day seminar on the topic of knowledge transfer in the field of sustainable development will be organized for young scientists of our countries. The most active participants of the seminar will be able to take part in the summer school, we plan to hold it in the summer of 2022 in cooperation with the Institute of Petroleum Geology and Geophysics SB RAS," said Yuri Balega, Vice President of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

According to him, the Russian Academy of Sciences has been cooperating with the Association for a long time. Helmholtz, about 16-17 years ago, a cooperation agreement was signed, and since then the parties have been strategic partners in international research projects. Balega noted that Russian scientists cooperate with almost all 18 centers of the Association, in all fields of science, conduct joint expeditions. In total, about 35 joint research projects are currently being implemented.

"We are opening a new page of our cooperation in the development of scientific diplomacy between our countries. Climate-related issues are now extremely important for all mankind and relevant. Almost all forums pay special attention to this," Balega added.

The Helmholtz Association is the largest research organization in Germany. It unites natural science, technical and biomedical research centers, which employ almost 40 thousand employees (including about 15 thousand scientists).
